Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES SA), an organization dedicated to advancing Social Democratic values, sought to empower South African voters with accessible and relevant information ahead of the 2024 elections. In collaboration with The Coup, the objective was to design an engaging infographic to help citizens make informed voting decisions, specifically focusing on party leaders and their commitments to job creation—a critical issue for South Africans.
Ahead of the elections, many South African voters lacked clear, concise information about political party leaders and their specific commitments to addressing unemployment. The absence of easily accessible resources hindered informed decision-making and active participation in the democratic process.
Our infographic simplified and visualized the political landscape, making it easier for voters to compare party promises on job creation. Each party leader was presented with their key policies in a consistent, visually striking layout that encouraged engagement. The infographic balanced informativeness with visual appeal by combining clean typography, an approachable design style, and strategic colour usage. The result was a resource that resonated across a diverse audience, ensuring accessibility for all voters, regardless of their political knowledge or education level.
The design process prioritized clarity, equity, and neutrality, ensuring that each party was represented fairly. By leveraging storytelling through visuals, The Coup created an infographic that informed and motivated voters to engage in the democratic process with confidence and clarity.
